Rory Appleton

Before joining State Affairs, reporter Rory Appleton spent a decade covering politics, local government, crime and entertainment at newspapers across the country. He was most recently an entertainment reporter and critic for The Indianapolis Star. Before that, he covered the 2020 presidential election and local government for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Appleton began his career at his hometown paper, The Fresno Bee, where he covered a variety of local beats, including crime and politics. 

His work has received more than two dozen local, regional and national awards for everything from breaking news coverage to feature writing. He is a graduate of Fresno State University.
