Request a DemoMark Robinson hires law firm, vows to fight CNN
The Mark Robinson for Governor campaign announced late Tuesday afternoon the hiring of the Binnall Law Group to investigation CNN reports that the Republican candidate described himself as a “Black nazi” on a social media porn forum.
In a report published Thursday afternoon on CNN, Robinson is linked to a series of highly objectionable comments made years ago in the chatroom of a pornographic website. The comments range from referring to himself as a “black NAZI” to describing himself as being aroused by a memory of “peeping” women in gym showers when he was 14 to having an appreciation of transgender pornography.
Just before the publication of the report, Robinson released a video denying the accusations.
Robinson told a North Carolina reporter Monday that “we absolutely are” going to sue CNN. Meanwhile, a number of his top staffers have quit the campaign.
In a news release, Robinson said: “As I’ve said from the beginning, the claims from CNN are salacious lies. I will not let these attacks distract us from sharing a better future for our state, and I’m glad to be able to bring Jesse Binnall and his team on board to investigate where and how these false smears originated. I am confident that Binnall Law Group will leave no stone unturned and enable us to use every legal means to hold CNN accountable for their lies. In the meantime, my campaign remains laser-focused on the issues at stake in this election.” — Lieutenant Governor and Republican nominee for Governor Mark Robinson
Robinson’s lawyer said the the news release: “My team and I are looking forward to getting to the bottom of CNN’s claims and we will bring all our resources to bear in getting to the facts. Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, his family and the voters of North Carolina deserve nothing less.” — Jesse R. Binnall, Partner, Binnall Law Group
