TERRY HUMPHREY Public Affairs Group, Inc. (THPAG) is an association management and public affairs company seeking an experienced Association and Program Manager to join our team.
The Association and Program Manager will support the Executive Director by overseeing client nonprofit finance, governance, membership development, and administrative operations, including events and programming requirements.
Candidates must have a keen attention to detail, and excel in technology and project management. The position requires: delegating effectively, a proven track record in motivating and unifying teams, and solid organizational, problem-solving, and clear decision-making skills.
The Association and Program Manager will be responsible for the following:
GENERAL MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION:
- Communicate organizational goals and operational plans to all levels of the organization
- Work with the Executive Director on strategic planning, coordination, and financial management of the organization’s programs and projects
- Oversee contract negotiations and maintain accurate records
- Administer all insurance contracting, liability, and reporting
- Oversee data management, standard operating procedures, document and file systems, and project management systems
- Manage and lead the organization’s annual conference
- Proactively identify internal opportunities and challenges and work with the Executive Director to address them
- Manage key projects and special initiatives that relate to organizational growth
- Participate in developing and implementing strategies to expand membership
ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE:
- Implement, ensure compliance with, and document accounting policies and procedures and internal control systems
- Track the financial performance of programs and policies to ensure alignment with organizational and grant budgets
- Conduct monthly reviews of finances to prepare monthly statements for the Board and senior staff
- Lead a successful annual budget process in coordination with ED and client Board of Directors
- Oversee the annual audit process, ensuring that the organization complies with all auditing rules and regulations
- Assist with the tax reports required by the IRS and Kansas Department of Revenue
- Submit annual reports to the Secretary of State
- Assisting with bookkeeping and financial oversight, including the development of budgets and expense monitoring
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success leading and managing the financial and business operations of a nonprofit organization
- Minimum of 3 years of direct work experience in nonprofit administration, finance, and budget management
- Advanced knowledge and skills in nonprofit finance and accounting and experience working with Google Workspace and QuickBooks
- The high degree of integrity, discretion, and dependability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences
- Ability to function professionally in a fast-paced
- Team player capable of working both collaboratively and independently
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and solving complex operational problems
- Strong understanding of nonprofit management, leadership, and policy issues
- Ability to manage multiple complex, collaborative projects simultaneously
- Financial management and budgeting skills
- Strong networking and relationship management skills
- Strategic planning
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing efficiencies
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
The position is remote, however, candidates must be located within 2 hours of Topeka, KS. The position occasionally requires in-person meetings and staffing at an annual in-person conference.
Salary and Benefits:
- $45,000-55,000 to start, depending on experience and qualifications
- Up to a 3% match of employee contribution to the simple retirement plan provided by THPAG
- Eight paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and one floating holiday
