The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has a CHW Research Analyst opening in Topeka. The Bureau of Health Promotion is seeking a dedicated and analytical Research Analyst focusing on Community Health Workers (CHWs) to join our dynamic team. This role will involve collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to community health worker programs, performance, and outcomes, with a focus on identifying trends and return on investment to enhance program effectiveness, sustainability, and community well-being.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Compile, clean, format, and submit community health worker (CHW) datasets for data submissions to the CDC. Responsible for cleaning and calculating data to develop CHW measures for the improvement of CHW work, sustainability, and improvements on the health system. Work with the Epidemiologist as needed. Responsible for working with program staff and CHW teams across Kansas to gather this data.

Provides quality assurance of data; develop and implement data analyses; research, collect, clean, and organize data that supports community health worker activities; assist with program evaluation and prepare reports; research new methods for data visualization and dissemination; maintain source data/information for health indicators; work closely with program staff and applicable partners to ensure accuracy and completeness of data. Working to develop a CHW return on investment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Two years of experience in collecting, evaluating, studying, or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal/budget, legislative or administrative data. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • High School, GED

Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid Driver’s License – Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver’s license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.

Preferred Qualifications

Any additional skills, experiences, or qualifications that would be beneficial, but aren’t strictly necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, epidemiology, computer science, mathematics, or another related field.
  • Experience with data programming or analytical skills such as SAS, R, Tableau, or other analytical system.
  • Experience with establishing and building partnerships with community partners and health care providers.
  • Ability to provide effective presentations for training and educational purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to a variety of people.
  • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
