Position Title: Coordinator, Political Operations
Reports To: Senior Vice President, Political Affairs & Foundation
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt (not overtime eligible)

Summary:
The Coordinator of Political Operations would serve on the Indiana Chamber’s political affairs team for the state’s largest political action committee. This is a unique opportunity for full-time, permanent political work for the state’s leading trade association and PAC. Responsibilities include research, candidate relations, election campaign management and services, and field operations work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following:

  • Manage and assist election campaigns of endorsed candidates, working closely with candidates, volunteers and coalition partners.
  • Develop campaign plans, organize volunteers and build in-district networks.
  • Field election organizing, volunteer relations and direct voter contact.
  • Research on campaigns, candidates and election statistics. Build and maintain specialized databases and support grassroots communications.
  • Manage social and digital communication projects for the division and candidates.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President, Political Affairs & Foundation.

Non-Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Other duties as assigned and as necessary by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree required.
  • Election campaign experience is preferred but not required, whether as a manager/staff or in a significant role as a volunteer or candidate.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizing skills.
  • Work effectively with a variety of people, including candidates of either political party, vendors and volunteers.
  • Able to think, evaluate and act objectively. Ability to work effectively on challenging projects, including field assignments requiring significant travel and work with candidates in their districts.
  • Must have solid personal management skills, including consistent and punctual attendance, and completion of tasks at headquarters and on field assignments.
  • Basic computer, data analysis and digital/social communication skills is a plus.

Direct Reports:
Incumbent has no direct reports, and therefore has no supervisory responsibilities.

Personal Work Relationships:
Ability to work cooperatively, professionally and effectively with others (internal and external) is essential. Daily contact with those in the department, others in the Chamber and members required.

Job Requirements:

  • College degree required.
  • Fundraising and development experience is an advantage, but is not required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizing skills.
  • Successful candidates will be detail oriented, have strong written and spoken communicators, and able to manage projects and follow-throughs to completion.
  • Basic computer, data analysis and digital/social communication skills is a plus.
  • Must have solid personal management skills, including consistent and punctual attendance and completion of tasks at headquarters and on field assignments.

Incumbent has no direct reports, and therefore has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Effort:
Office and outdoor environments, standing, sitting, lifting between 10-25 lbs., walking for extended periods of time, speaking, hearing. Some travel, including overnight and short-term out-of-office assignments, is required.

Salary Range

$ 45,000 to 65,000
