Position Summary:

Provides strategic support as it relates to public policy and government affairs initiatives. Translates guidance from the Plan Board and the Plan CEO into an overarching policy strategy, determining goals and objectives to inform and influence public policy at the state level on issues and in areas of interest to the Plan.

Represents and acts on behalf of the Plan President and the MHC Vice President Corporate Government  Relations in representing MIG and the Plan in proactive interactions with high level government officials, political leaders, influential organizations and other relevant thought leaders to ensure government relations and activities advance the organization’s business and industry interests. Develops and leads strategic lobbying efforts to promote the Plan’s position to legislators and regulators to build effective and conducive working relationships at the state and local levels of government. Engages and collaborates, as appropriate, with entities whose interests and/or functions may affect MIG and the Plan to coordinate policy interests and efforts.

This is a hybrid position with requirements to come onsite as scheduled with leader, Indianapolis, IN. This position also requires travel to the State House during session and periodical travel throughout the state of IN.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health administration, public policy, political science or related field.
  • 5 years’ experience on policy and/or legislative activities.

Preferred:

  • 5 years’ experience with media relations and/or development of public awareness campaigns preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience with state campaign finance rules and regulations preferred.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, health administration, public policy, political science or Law degree.
