Oct 22, 2024

— GOP WANTS MORE INFLUENCE IN LEGE: Derek Babcock, who chairs the Louisiana Republican Party, wants the state GOP to be more involved with weighing in on legislation, he told the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday. He said he still thinks Louisiana should hold a constitutional convention, but expressed support for Gov. Jeff Landry’s proposed tax-focused special session. “Don’t screw it up,” was the first priority upon taking the job, he said, referring to the Republican dominance of state government. He said he sees growth opportunities for the party among conservative Black voters who currently are not registered with either of the major parties.

Also on Friday, lobbyist expenditure reports for September are due.

And now he has his own doc, which is generating early awards buzz.
